At Blue Flow we firmly believe carbon is best but we realise not everybody agrees with this and not everyone wants to spend the extra money. So we also offer handbuilt custom wheels with DT Swiss rims with either Hope Pro 5 or Bitex hubs. While we have a choice of XM481, EX511 and FR541 rims in the dropdowns, we can build with any other DT Swiss rims for similar prices.
We use Sapim Race spokes and brass nipples as standard – we always use DT rim specific PHR washers on the inside of the PHR compatible nipples. If you would like to upgrade to CX Ray spokes this is just £90 – please contact us for this option.
Wheels are delivered tubeless ready with Muc-Off rim tape fitted

EX511 rims for AM / enduro use with 30mm internal width: Weight 535g (27.5″) or 570g (29″)
XM481 rims for trail use with 30mm internal width: Weight 490g (27.5″) or 525g (29″)
FR541 rims are freeride rims weighing 570g for 27.5 and 605g for 29er
Hope Pro 5 hubs speak for themselves. Manufactured in the UK to the highest standard with the Pro 5 pushing the game on significantly.
Bitex are fantastic hubs which we use on all of our own wheels. Cheaper and 100g lighter than Hope yet we have found them equally as reliable and servicable.

511/pro5 combo
Ran 511’s for over 3 years now with no issues. Managed a minor dent in one doing something I’d expect a lesser rim to collapse from. As for the hubs, the pro5s are butter smooth & feel more refined than the lower engagement pro4’s they replaced.
BlueFlow themselves are helpful & communicative. The craftsmanship is as flawless as it was rapid. Wheels delivered well packaged & unmarked with spares chucked in – something I didn’t get with a popular larger wheel builder. The BlueFlow guy/s must be Usain Bolt of wheel builders to turn around a custom build in ~4 working days (having had to order parts initially too).
Doubt I’ll need these replacing any time soon, but I’ll be back here when I do. Cheers

I used to build all of my own wheels, but been back to Stuart at Blueflow 3 times now for various different bikes. Don’t have the time to build at the moment and don’t think i could do as cost effectively anyway – just on the price of spokes!
Build quality is excellent, properly tensioned, valves aligned to logos, rim’s taped. Raced the Mega on a few sets and still straight, loads of alpine riding and bike parks. Beat the rims to death and still straight. I weigh 115kg so have always tended to alloy for longevity.
Great customer service, response to emails and quick delivery. Couldn’t ask for more.

Blue Flow are excellent. After destroying two rear E-Dee Max wheels, I bought a pair of DT Swiss EX511 on Hope Pro5s from Blue Flow. They were shipped in days, price is as good or better than online shops, communication from Stuart is excellent and my wheels are still true after a year on my eBike (including multiple UK bike park trips and a week in Morzine on the DH bike after I broke the OEM wheel it came with).

I bought a set of custom hand built wheels last summer from Blue Flow.
Excellent communication from Stuart throughout the build process and he double checked I selected correct freehub, and gave updates on build and when they were shipped. The Wheels were built faster and expected and posted to Scotland.
They have been excellent on my hardtail, for general trail riding and bike packing and have stayed true.

Had a pair of DT Swiss rims with Bitex hubs built by Stuart for my Trek X-Calibre and couldn’t be more happy with the result. The Trek has an unusual rear quick release setup but this was no problem and the new wheels are performing really well.
